Plot

After watching the whole season I found out that it’s an amusement park based off of an old western world there is a saloon/brothel that is kind of the center of everything in town, there are also outlaws/bandits, sheriffs and everything you would expect from a western storyline. The show goes back-and-forth from the characters in amusement park and the real humans who run the amusement park.

Episode 10: ” The Bicameral Mind”

The big finale is a game changer you have Maeve who escapes the facility with her army which are the 2 main outlaws in her town. Maeve made it all the way out of the west world onto the platform of the train that leaves out of the amusement park but she sees a little girl and she reminds her of her pass. Reminds her of a reality that wasn’t real in the first place another story line that she remembers living. Although Maeve tries to fight u4rge of going back she goes back anyway. Knowing that the child isn’t really her daughter. Dolores is going through the difficulties of her memories and all the while the man in black was trying to recruit her to help him find the maze but she is breaking down so he tries to murder her. Teddy comes to Doloress’ rescue. Also, revealing that the man in black was William. Doloress’ romantic interest was the man in black all this time. Somehow William ended up becoming a villain when he started off as such a nice guy he describes himself as a good family man outside of the park. Where he has never hit his wife or daughters but in the park he murders children and families. William loves to be the villain and it’s crazy how he became the villain from his first visit and he’s been going to the park for 30 years. His goal  is to find the secret to commit the ultimate suicide because he’s looking for a host to be able to hurt him and that’s what he believes the endgame is. That the hosts can fight back and harm humans. So, once Teddy rescues Dolores  Ford reveals them as part of his new narrative and Dolores is remembering who Ford is. Ford is on stage in front of a crowd when Dolores whispers to Teddy “these violent acts have violent ends” from there she goes over to Ford who is on stage in front of everyone and murders him. That’s the ending to the finale leading into a takeover by the host as to tell us the land now belongs to the host that live there. We don’t know what’s going to happen next but you can assume that the hosts are no longer a toy for humans. I will say that the ending was perfect it gives you something to look forward to and every episode play a part of telling the story. There wasn’t a single episode that seemed pointless to the story. It is definitely a much watch!!!westworld_2.jpg

Episode 9: The Well-Tempered Clavier

Whenever a host is not going by the script they get sent back to the programmers. Last episode Maeve stabbed someone by accident because she was reliving a situation from her past not aware of her surrounding not knowing that she wasn’t in danger. Maeve is sent to the facility were Bernanrd analyzes her and she quickly realizes he’s not human. So, Maeve uses Bernard to get sent back. Instead of being deactivated she is put back into service because she used Bernards settings to do so. What was interesting was Maeve may choose to set Bernard to release her but she allowed him to keep the memory of her doing so. To show that she isn’t like the humans. She doesn’t want to alter his perception or manipulate him. So Bernard goes looking for the truth after Maeve releases him and he releases her. He calls for meeting with Dr. Ford using a host as his weapon because he is made to not harm humans. Bernard looks for answers about who he is and recalls all the people that Ford had him kill and commands the hosts to kill Ford. The command backfired and Ford has Bernard kill himself.

This shows a major game changer between Ford and Bernard. As for Dolores shes still struggling with her reality, Maeve is on the verge of escaping, and the man in black is getting closer to the secret of the park which is the center of the maze.

Episode 8: “Trace Decay”

jeffrey_wright_as_bernard_lowe_sidse_babett_knudsen_as_theresa_cullen_....jpg-h_2016 Bernard is speaking with Dr. Ford about the incident with Teresa and he’s wondering if Dr. Ford ever made Bernard kill before. That’s when Bernard realizes that he is responsible for Elsies murder. Bernard is questioning whether or not his wife and son are  real. Dr. Ford explains to Bernard that nothing he remembers is real that it’s just a story he created for his backstory that comes with every host. Dr. Ford erases Bernards memory of Theresa as far as romantic interest but keeps his memory of Theresa as a beloved colleague.Meanwhile Maeve is creating an army that will help her escape westworld.. William and Dolores are still traveling together. The man in black remains on his journey to find the secret and he recruited Teddy ton help him. Dolores finds it increasingly difficult to separate dreams from reality.

In this episode it shows how the hosts are easily manipulated to forget things as well as to do things. The hosts memory has been wiped so often they can remember something as though it was presently happening making them unaware of their actual surroundings and living their past experiences during the present time.

Episode 7: “Trompe L’Oeil”

The beginning of this episode shows Dolores and William on their journey with the bandit Lorenzo William had left his brother-in-law Logan behind. William is helping Dolores figure out her purpose or the thing she is in search of. The two of them are now officially romantically involve with one another. Maeve is becoming paranoid about getting found out by the humans because she knows so much. Theresa wants Ford’s position. So Theresa takes a host that and puts on a show to make it look like the hosts are uncontrollable so that Ford has to step down. After Theresa pulled that stunt Bernard wants to show Theresa that something indeed is fishy going on. And of course Theresa follows Bernard because that is her love interest. So, Bernard takes Theresa to wear Ford builds his own host outside of the facility in the amusement park. Ford appears and reveals to Theresa that the Bernard is not a person he is host. Dr. Ford created Bernard and then he commands Bernard to kill Theresa.

The ending to this episode is also a plot twist as a viewer you would never expect the head programmer to be a host. How can he know about hosts and create them but not know that he is one?7m2Ja7sWWhh835tpRHrp4Y

Episode 6: “The Adversary”

westworld3

In episode six the lady of the saloon Maeve is making her demands with the repair man in the facility. She’s trying to escape amusement park. Which is an interesting concept a host to living amongst humans in a unfamiliar environment. Maeve’s only desire is to escape the park as a viewer you route for her escape.  One of the programmers Elsie who works under Bernard is trying to get down to the bottom of what’s going on with the host. It’s crazy because you see Bernard kind of brushing off the situation he is not really trying to figure out what’s going on because he’s had these conversations with Mr. Ford about the host having conscience which he keeps to himself. You can see Bernard is covering for Dr. Ford.  At the same time you have a someone from the board Teresa who Bernard is having an affair with wanting to shut down the park so that they can bring in these troubled hosts and fix their coding. No one wants to do that because it would basically stop experience for the guest. When Elsie goes to explore what’s going on in the park she finds a room. Someone is in the room but nobody knows exactly what happens to her and you know that somebody killed her but nobody knows by who.So we’re kept in the dark in this episode we kind of see things are happening but we don’t know what’s going on.

We see the hosts in we4stworld being murdered time to time. But in this episode something happens to a human being which is a huge plot twist.

Episode 4: “Dissonance Theory”

Episode four starts off with Bernard and Dolores having a routine meeting. They meet up to talk about the bizarre behaviors that are going on with the hosts. It turns out that these strange behaviors are due to memories which is kind of an interesting concept because it also makes you believe that these host have a  a conscience. So in the storyline Dolores ends up with William and Logan, so she kind of strays from her story line after her family is murdered because she remember them being murdered. Even though they are murdered every day she just doesn’t usually remember. She runs away because she feels as though she has nothing left to go home to. So she’s on the run and gets off her story line. Dolores explains to Bernard that she thinks that somethings wrong with the world or she feels like she’s losing her mind. But that’s her remembering things which gives the audience almost a sense of feeling that these hosts have actual feelings and are more than artificial intelligence. They’re more human like and living beings than anything. The Madame from the saloon Maeve is aware of her surroundings she was taken to the facility it’s basically the repair shop and she a woken from her sleep mode and she questioned the humans that were repairing her and she now knows what she is and what’s going on with her. So she keeps dying knowing that she will go back to the repair shop were the humans are. I like the way they gave Maeve the certainty that this repair shop does exist. Maeve would have thought it was just a dream because the hosts are coded to believe that their memories are dreams but in fact these events that they recall happened to them. Maeve remembers by drawing the repairmen’s hazmat suit that they work in and leaving the drawing hidden

so that only she can find it and remember.

Meanwhile the programmers are still having issues with the hosts and one has committed suicide because of his memories. You see that Dolores questions her sanity but she is capable of holding it together and working out her issues like a human would which shows the audience that there’s a lot more to the hosts. Dolores is starting to fall for William and William is falling for her. As the audience we’re drawn to this taboo love story. Dolores is created to forget and only remember her story line and William is a human who is engaged and knows that Dolores isn’t real. Dolores knows that she isn’t human but she somehow still has feelings for William. Now that William has the Dolores he is living more in the park finally making his own storyline which is the idea. William use to take a backseat to it all but with Dolores on his side he is apart of it all.

Episode 2 “Chestnut”

william

The second episode starts off with entering the amusement park  a first timer and his brother-in-law who’s been to the amusement park several times before. The first timers name is William and you can tell that William doesn’t feel comfortable in these settings as to his brother-in-law Logan is completely relaxed and ready to have sex with these host and kill some host. Starting off you get to see William choose his cowboy hat and cowboy boots to go along with the western theme of the park. He is a company by a host who is telling him that anything goes in the park. Williams reaction to the news is awesome because you get to see the beginning stages of entering the park as a guest for the first time. Being told there are no limits in park other than not harming the other guest is almost un real because the host are so life like. Upon first arrival you can’t tell who’s real or not. The amusement park is suppose to show you your true self or show you the person you want to be. I like this episode because you really see yourself in William shoes taking it all in for the first time. Going into a place like that who knows how one would act especially having morals and not being comfortable with the idea of killing another human. And you see that with William you see that he is not sure what he can do and he’s not completely comfortable with the idea of not having laws against killing. That you could do whatever you want and you don’t really have to have morals and the thought of that is something that is hard to take in.

Also with the programmers that take care of this amusement park they’re still seeing that the host our exhibiting bizarre behaviors that the Dolores‘s father wasn’t the only one. They have a board which this lady Teresa works for is trying to take control of the situation but the people that work under Mr. Ford our kind of trying to keep her at bay trying to take over than amusement park because if they work under Mr. Ford. This is a big episode on showing the man in black and how he’s on a journey to unfold the secret of the amusement park I guess he believes that there’s a bigger game to be played.

This episode is to be enjoy as a first time experience as a guess of the park. While also understanding the behind the scenes of it all. It helps you understand that the park has people who maintain it so that the guest can indulge in whatever they like with hosts and the hosts get repaired and sent back out.

Episode One : “The Original”

Westworld

In the first episode the audience is introduced to West world. West world is a western amusement park which has artificial intelligence which are called hosts. The hosts job is to entertain the wealthy who pay top dollar to enjoy their stay at the amusement park the weathly humans that stay are called guest. First coming into this amusement park you can’t really tell the difference between who’s human and who’s not. Everyone living in amusement park that they show in the first episode is a host .We as the audience are shown how that all the hosts live their day to day lives. The first episode opens up with Dolores who is kind of the girl next-door in the amusement park, Dolores is being question about whether or not she questions the nature of her reality as a host. After  Dolores’s  questioning, we see Dolores’s day to day activities like getting up in the morning spending the whole day with love interest host Teddy and coming home to gun shots. Teddy the brave western man that he is, goes and tries to be the hero of the story and kill some hosts that are invading Dolores’s home were her mother and father also reside. But on this particular day a man shows up there he is dressed in black. So the man dressed in black is kind of like a villain character who you know meets her at her place while her home is being attacked at first glance you think that the man in black is part of the storyline one of the hosts. But than you realize he is a guest because Teddy is unable to hurt him with his shots. That’s when the man in black reveals that the hosts can’t harm humans during his show down with Teddy. He proceeds to kill Teddy and than take advantage of Dolores. Later in the episode it shows Dolores‘s father figure questioning their world because he finds a picture of a lady who was human outside of West world who is in the city which he has never seen anything like that before.

The two main people who run the amusement park our top programmer Bernard Lowe and park foundered Dr. Robert Ford. Bernard warns Mr. Ford in the about the bizarre behaviors of hosts. At the end of the episode it shows that because Dolores’s father is questioning their reality the programmers question the whole house and it shows that there is something going on with the coding of the Dolores ‘s father and he is sent off the amusement park and he is stored in the room were bunch of hosts are inactive. And Dolores is given a new father for her storline.

The first episode was riveting I wasn’t expecting to enjoy the plot as much as I did. Like I said I had no expectations or ideas of what this series was about. But I was surprisingly captivated by how realistic the story seemed as though an amusement park  like this can be made available to the public. It’s a very lucrative idea to an amusement park I think most people would like to indulge and get away. Play out that fantasy where you can be whoever you want to be and do whatever you like.
